法蘭西絲‧霍森‧柏納(Frances Hodgson Burnett，1849～1924)，出生於英國的曼徹斯特。14歲時隨同母親移居至美國的田納西州。17歲時為了補貼家用而嘗試寫作、投稿，以《小公爵方特洛伊》一書而聲名大噪，從此躋身暢銷書作家。一生中著有50部小說與故事集，以及七本劇作。代表作有《秘密花園》、《小公主》、《小公子》等等。
