Most of the 1960s, Burroughs's boyfriend was Ian Sommerville, a mathematician, who operated Paul McCartney's studio at 34 Montagu Square. Burroughs used the studio for his experimental 'Hello, Yes, Hello' tapes. "He was very interesting but we never really struck up a huge conversation," recalled McCartney. "I actually felt you had to be a bit of a junkie, which was probably not true."
