  I Teaching Aims and Demands:

  1.content understanding

  2.Vocabulary: hibernate ----hibernation; squirrel; loose;mud; warm-blooded; keep up; tail; lung; frog

  3.Moral teaching: the importance of learning more about the nature around us,including all kinds animals and plants , with the terrible flood in Changjiang and Heilongjiang in China as a lesson .

  II Teaching Aids: tape recorder; slide show; computer; multimedia education software

  III Teaching Main-points:

  1.Listening and reading comprehension

  2.Vocabulary explanation in real-situation sentences

  3.The importance of keeping the balance of nature .

  V Teaching Procedures :

  Step 1 : Warming-up

  Take out some pictures and get the Ss to talk about the pictures and then ask the following:

  Why animals need to hibernate ? what way and what are the characteristics of animals’ hibernation?

  Step 2 : Watching and Listening

  Answer the following questions:

  Which type of animals hibernate in winter?

  Which type of animals don’t hibernate in winter?

  Which animals did half-hibernation in winter?

  Step 3 : Reading

  Read Lesson 46 carefully and choose the correct statements .

  A. All the birds will fly away to the south when the weather turns cold.

  B. All the animals and birds will hibernate when the weather turns cold.

  C. Some birds will fly away to the south when the weather turns cold; some animals hibernate in the cold weather.

  When you are driving along the road , be careful for it just rained last night , or you will be trapped in mud .

  It is very hard to travel through the muddy and icy roads in this area.

  Page 69, Part2. Go through the exercise and Let them read the whole passage again and answer the questions, working in pairs or small groups. Check the answers with the whole class.

  Page 69, Part4. Go through the part with class and make sure the Ss know what to do. Ask them orally .
