　福楼拜(1821—1880)，法国作家。生于医师家庭。早期作品《狂人回忆录》《十一月》带有浪漫主义色彩和忧郁情调。1856年发表长篇小说《包法利夫人》，暴露资产阶级道德的堕落。1867年写出历史小说《萨朗波》，以古代非洲奴隶国家雇佣军队起义为背景，描写起义军首领马多和迦太基姑娘萨朗波的恋爱。1869年完成长篇小说《情感教育》(副题《青年人的故事》)，描写一个丧失理想、自私自利的资产阶级青年的生活。1874年发表《圣安东尼的诱惑》，取材宗教传说，反映作者对资产阶级社会制度和精神文化的绝望。最后一部未完成的长篇小说《布法尔和白居谢》，描写两个找不到生活理想的人物的一生，充满浓厚的悲观情绪。他的作品，文字精练，是法国近世散文的典范。
