Chapter 3 - I just realised the movie may have skewed my view of the characters by quite a lot. Firstly, Harriet Smith should have been much more beautiful in any Emma movie. Having said that, no Jane Austen movie seems to have ever got the prettiness right. For example, in Pride and Prejudice, Jane Benette was supposed to be 5 times prettier than any other girl at " the ball", but in no P&P movie was Jane more attractive than even Elizabeth, however pretty or plain Elizabeth was. Never mind that. What's more important is the fact that Emma Woodhouse is in fact smug to the point of arrogance. I don't think I would have liked her nearly as much had I not seen Paltrow's interpretation before reading the actual book.
