Snow Leopard Commando, the anti-terror wing of China's Armed Police, says it is ready for security operations during the Beijing Olympic Games.
With 50 days to go before the event, team leader of the unit Li Yaguang says they have been training intensively for any possible incident.
"We've prepared for all possible terrorist threats that might happen during the Games. To deal with different kinds of emergencies, we have also trained our team in combat forms such as wrestling and shooting."
Li Yaguang says the team conducts anti-explosion and bare-handed climbing drills in simulated Olympic venues a dozen times each day.
Their other drills include dealing with the threat of athletes' buses being hijacked.
The drills simulate real-life situations as much as possible in terms of process, location, timing and equipment.
Formed in December 2002, the anti-terror wing was set up to prevent and combat terrorism. It took part in four national anti-terrorist drills and the 2007 Sino-Russian anti-terrorism exercise by the end of last year.
