The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security has announced that it will work to find employment for some 1,000 job seekers from quake-affected areas.
The jobs will yield a monthly salary of 1,000 yuan and free accommodation will be provided to workers from earthquake-hit regions.
The Beijing News carries an article saying that victims need to rely on themselves and rebuild their lives after a natural disaster. However, while some victims have been granted funds for daily expenses and temporary residence, they just idle around all day, chatting or playing mahjong.
Even though relief funds have supported quake survivors, they may fall short of comprehensively supporting relief and reconstruction work in the long run.
The article says what quake survivors urgently need are jobs which will help them regain confidence and rebuild their lives.
The article suggests the government formulate incentives for provincial authorities who introduce similar schemes in other regions.
