1. Barack Obama has chosen his running mate, but he's not telling anyone just yet. The announcement is expected via text message at any moment. Obama plans to have his new running mate start campaigning with him Saturday in Springfield, Illinois.

2. A McCain campaign office received a threatening letter containing an unidentified powder. Authorities say the substance wasn't dangerous, and they already have a suspect. The return address on the envelope listed a Colorado detention center and the name of an inmate.
