The rehabilitation center at Sichuan University's West China Hospital recently held a special sports meeting for earthquake patients.
Over 60 victims injured in the May 12 earthquake in Southwest China's Sichuan Province are receiving medical care at the center. Many of them took part in sports games such as wheelchair racing, badminton and basketball.
Tian Fugang, a victim injured in the earthquake says he is a good wheelchair user now.
"I have to spend the rest of my life in the wheelchair. I often practice some difficult actions in my wheelchair at my leisure time. The path of my life has changed but I have never ever changed the goal of my life."
Yang Bozun, a blind Paralympic swimming champion attended the sports meeting and shared his personal experience with the patients.
"I want to tell you, don't hide yourselves away. The sunshine belongs to all of us. Let's share it all together."
Yang Bozun brought a bottle of coke to Xue Xiao, nickname Coke boy as his first words was "I want a coke" when he was pulled out of the rubble at the quake site.
"I am surprised when he gave me the coke. I will learn the spirit of him."
Yang Bozun adds that participating is much more important than winning the game.
"They took part in the game and returned to the society. I think this is the first step to walk out of the darkness."
