天天小故事－2008/08/20－The Mother Robin And Her Son

A mother robin and her baby lived in the forest. The mother robin took good care of her baby. She tried to compensate because there was no father. The father bird was shot dead just before the mother had had her baby.

Everyday the mother bird went out and did her best to find worms to feed her child. She was very glad to see it eat all the worms she had found. The bird got bigger and stronger.

When the young bird grew up, he noticed his mother was getting old, and no longer had the energy to find worms. One day, the young bird told his mother, “I am old enough to find worms for you now. You don’t have to go out anymore. I will feed us.”

He went out in search of worms. Every time he went out, the other mother birds would criticise, saying the mother bird was just too lazy. The young robin always explained, “My mother is getting old. It is my responsibility to take care of her.”

One summer afternoon, a thunderstorm hit the forest. The young robin was worried about his mother, so he went home to see if his mother was safe.

However when he arrived home, he found the nest totally destroyed, and his mother was nowhere to be found.

He cried, flying through the forest shouting, “Mother, where are you?” The storm was so strong that the young robin had to find shelter from the storm. He stopped on the edge of the window of a cabin in the forest. He looked through the window. An old woman lay in her bed, while her son attended to her.

Her son said, “I’m sorry there’s no meat for you. You are sick. You should have more nutrition.” The mother said, “Never mind son.”

The young robin was moved. He decided to sacrifice his life to the mother and son. The young robin flew against the glass and died. The son heard the noise and went outside to see what had happened. The son was excited to see the bird beside the window. He took the little body inside saying, “Mother, the bird’s body is still warm. I can cook it for you.” His mother, however, said, “Son, the bird is poor. Don’t eat it. Bury it on our farm instead.”

The son did what his mother said. The young robin flew to the far, far sky, where he found his mother, and eventually they flew together to paradise.

    a very moving story. Love between Mothers and Sons is the best and most touching emotion in the world which contains only devotion. The story reminds me the stories of mothers and children happened during the Wenchuan earthquake.

    Love bewteen family members are the greatest and most beautiful thing in the world. Sometimes they can create miracles in life when you are in the worst situation. However, there are also some sacrifices that we wouldn't like to see. But, in any cases, we should learn to be strong for we are live in a world full of love.

    I  felt  sort  of  strange,though  the story  was in praise of  love.
    Sacrifice comes  so quickly .

    A young robin,under the careful attendence of the mother robin, grew up to be an adult robin while his mother was too old to be out for foods. Once the strom hit the forest, the mother robin was nowhere to be found, the young robin was so sad that he commited suicide with an aim to save another human family. Instead of devouring the young robin, that human family buried the young robin.

    Lesson learnt: I am moved by the deeds of the human family.They were so kind to bury the young robin. Devotion,sacrifice,selflessness, these are the characteristics of all  mothers in the world. Offspring, no matter married or unmarried,adult or child, son or daughter,please do love ur parents back, whatever, they gave u life and the reason to be in the world.

    All the mothers love their son deeply. They can spend their energy,their money and even their lives.but to the others arround them, they may can't spend anything. As we always say, great love has no boundary, only one person has great love to this world and all in this world ,can he sacrifice himself just for love.

    when you give you get .The mother robin love her son in her heart.the young robin has learnt her mother's quality .so he love her mother and he also can give the love to others .

    I feel so pity for the young  robin's death. The death of his mother gave his infinite pain.He shouldn't need to do like this.Every one would suffer some pain in his life. But life still goes on ,no matter how  the situation is. The son can live bravely and happily is the great comfort to his mother.

    I don't think this is a good story. The son bird did not find his mother, what about the mother bird was alive? If the mother was alive, and the son bird sacrificed, nobody could take care the old mother bird.
    After all, a bird body could not save the human mother's life, maybe just cound delay her death.

    It's sad. There is much negative viewpoint within. I'm not criticizing this is a bad story or not. Anyway, many stories are unreasonable, even for child.
    The child robin wanted to help a human family, but the only desire it achieved is get together with its mother again, in the heaven. I thought a mature life should develop his/her own fortune, instead to be buried along with the deceased. Dying for compensation is outdating virtue. I think we devote our love not for loyalty, but for flourish.
