Besides sports events in Beijing, cultural activities are also making the city more attractive.

At the Olympic Green, the China Story exhibition is probably the most popular place after the Bird's Nest and the Water Cube.

Tens of thousands of visitors make their way to the 30 booths, which showcase China's cultural heritage.

CRI's Liao Jibo reports.

George Cook and his wife and children couldn't help give out a "wow" when they saw an acrobatic performance at the Hebei Province booth.

"It's wonderful. It is great, makes me want to come back to China again. We would like to see the different cultures of different parts of China."

His ten years old daughter, Kelisa, used the word "cool" to describe what she saw.

"I saw the face masks changing, it is really cool."

The Cook family is here to watch the Olympic Games with a tight agenda which doesn't allow them to travel around the country.

Marion Rider from Germany is in Beijing for only three days. After watching the exhibition, she was grateful to the organizers.
"I am positively surprised. I didn't know anything about China, but I am now surprised. The organizing work is excellent."

For many foreign tourists like Ms Rider, this is their first time to catch a glimpse of Chinese culture and they have been deeply impressed by what they've seen.

In Inner Mongolia's booth, Thomas Ziolkowski was carefully listening to the introduction of a piece of romantic Mongolian music. A Mongolian musician was playing live.

"I never learnt anything about inner Mongolia, until I came here. I love it. They are very friendly, they explained everything about their hometown, I have to go visit it now. I wanna visit inner Mongolia."

Chen Li, who did the introduction in fluent English, has to tell the same stories time and time again, and she says every time, her foreign listeners were amazed.

"They can feel the richness and variety of Chinese culture. They think it is mystery but after learning so many things they never knew before, they have a desire to see for themselves."

For Steven Steiner, a German tourist, the desire is much stronger. He was bringing his three year old son with him, and hopes the child can also remember what he sees.

"We so hope he will keep something in his mind but he is too young, we will come back in two years, maybe next year to the expo in shanghai. We hope he will keep as much as he can in mind. "

The China Story is only one of the hundreds of cultural activities taking place in Beijing during the Olympic Games.

Julian Drew from South Africa says the cultural activities make his short journey to Beijing more complete.

"This is part of the experience of coming to the Olympics, to hear about the culture of a country, not just the games, the cultural is also important for me".
