saw how tents are made

just back from  a trip of seeing tent manufacturers. these tents are relief tents for earth quake regions. these manufacturers are working around clock to produce tents and meet the government deadlines. i was impressed by the large space of these huge workshops. one single workshop i visited measureed more than 5000 square meters. never knew industrial workshops can be that wasteful.  i can be wrong, of couse, knowing nothing about industrial design and related ideas, but it seems to me that building such spacious workshops are really a waste of land. but this is not the point here. the producing capacities are good. these producers have resources to meet emergent needs and wants of the government. and big people keep coming to see how tents are made and when they can be delivered.

one thing that disgusted me was that a driver from sichuan bargained for big money before he would say he agreed to drive a truckload of tents to sichuan. it is understandable to work for money. the offer was handsome enough but he wanted absurdly more and put his own demand first. the transport was delayed because of his wrangling for more moeny. fortunately there  were other drivers and  trucks. the transport business is a market where there are more drivers than goods to be shipped.
