Wednesday is a day of mourning across Russia for the victims of three disasters that killed at least 175 people -- a plane crash, a nursing home fire and the worst coal mine blast in 10 years.
In Kemerovo, in Central Siberia, the search is still on for three coal miners missing following Monday's methane gas explosion that killed at least 107 people. Russian Emergency Situations Minister Sergei Shoigu says the search-and-rescue effort could last three more days.
Families of the dead miners have been promised roughly 25-thousand dollars each by the Russian government. Kemerovo's regional governor says the payments will be dispersed in the next nine days.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has called for an official investigation into the mine disaster and also into Tuesday's fire that killed at least 62 people in a nursing home near the Sea of Azov, in southern Russia.
Authorities are looking at pilot error and bad weather as possible causes of Saturday's plane crash in Samara, which killed seven people.
