奥运精神永存

People at home and abroad, Beijing residents in particular, are continuing to enjoy the Olympics. A commentary in China Daily points out enjoying the Olympics is not necessarily limited to watching the Games. Beyond cheering for the victory of their favorite teams or applauding the tenacity losing athletes have displayed, the paper gives two examples of people displaying their Olympic spirit in different ways.

A dentist has volunteered to polish shoes free of charge outside the Water Cube, happily contributing to the Games in his own unique way. And an anti-smoking advocate is donating competition tickets to anyone who agrees not to smoke for a year. For him, the happiest thing from the Games is the chance to encourage more smokers to abandon their addiction.

The paper highlights the success of the Olympic spirit to be faster, higher and stronger for all the athletes, volunteers and spectators involved. The Games will draw to a close in less than a week. But the paper concludes as many have learned to seek joy in the pursuit of their own goals, the Olympic Spirit will remain in China.
