We're learning more today about the gunman involved in the Virginia Tech campus shootings. Two students who roomed with the Virginia Tech killer Cho Seung-Hui, say he was a loner who had an imaginary girlfriend and stalked female students. Virginia Tech police checked their records and found a stalking complaint was filed against him in December of 2005. Charges were never filed in that incident.
In New York State, a Rochester Institute of Technology student was arrested after authorities found two assault rifles in his dorm room. He's been held on 15000 dollars bail this afternoon. The sheriff's office says there's no indication the student was planning anything, but investigators are still working on this case.
The body of a missing American Peace Corps volunteer has been found in the Philippines. A military official says Julia Campbell was found buried. It's not clear she had been buried by someone or was covered by debris during a fall. Campbell disappeared last week. She had gone for a hike in a northern mountain town and never returned.
Insurgent bombers launched a series of attacks across Baghdad today, killing at least 171 people and wounding scores of others. Most of the bombings happened in mainly Shiite neighborhoods. The deadliest blast went off in a crowded outdoor market. 122 people were killed in that attack alone.
And in financial news, the US dollar has dropped to a 26-year low against the British pound, and it's trading at a near record low against the euro. Demand for the dollar started to dwindle after a report on Tuesday showed tamer than expected US consumer price inflation excluding food and energy for the month of March. The numbers contrasted with a jump in British consumer prices.
