There is new information about the man police say ruthlessly killed 32 people at Virginia Tech before killing himself. His name, Cho Seung-Hui, a 23-year-old English major from South Korea. Police say most of the victims were gunned down in classrooms at Norris Hall. Two died hours earlier in a dorm. Virginia Tech's police chief said one of the guns found was used in both shootings. Classes at that school have been cancelled for the rest of the week.
The tragedy of Virginia Tech is delaying a highly anticipated event in Washington. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales was set to testify about the controversial firings of 8 US attorneys today. Out of respect to the victims and their families, Gonzales won't appear until Thursday.
The trial is underway for a South Carolina man accused of holding two teenagers hostage in an underground dungeon and raping them. Kenneth Hinson is charged with kidnapping and criminal sexual assault. Police say Hinson held the girls in a small room about the size of a car behind his home. They were able to free themselves and escape. Hinson was arrested after a 4-day manhunt.
A UN convoy has been caught in a deadly blast near Kandahar. Four Nepalese men working as UN Security Guards were killed in that roadside bombing. Their Afghan driver was also killed. Elsewhere in Western Afghanistan, an explosion outside of a school has killed at least 3 children. The school shares a compound with a military base, and police say children may have been playing near a buried artillery shell.
Another pet-food maker is pulling some of its products from the store shelves. Natural Balance Pet Foods is recalling two types of dry food - Venison & Brown Rice Dry Dog Food and Venison & Green Pea Dry Cat Food. The company received reports of vomiting and kidney problems in some animals. Natural Balance is working with the Food and Drug Administration to figure out the cause of the problem.
