The Hollywood animated film "Kung Fu Panda" premiered last week in Beijing. Now showing is in theaters across the country.

Although the film has topped North America's box office and won big success in Europe, it has been rejected by some citizens in China. The reluctance to watch the movie was led by an artist named Zhao Bandi, who said the film is exploiting China's national treasure and martial arts.

The Beijing Youth Daily publishes a commentary saying that people should not be too sensitive about the film. Although the film uses the Chinese panda as the hero, film-makers have not violated China's interests by using the panda in its film.

The article says Chinese people should be generous about cultural reciprocation(互换). After all, the Hollywood animated film (动画片)is helping promote Chinese culture.

The paper goes on to say that "Kung Fu Panda" does not solely rely on Chinese elements for its success. Its attractive plot, lovely cartoon designs and excellent motion effects have all contributed to its popularity. Taking this perspective, Chinese people should learn more about filmmaking from their Western counterparts, rather than blindly resist the film.
