Hero of Dreams

This is light sword-and-sorcery with no dark corners. It should be stressed that although set in the landscape of Lovecraft's "Dreamquest of Unknown Kadath," this story has NOTHING in common with Lovecraft's work beyond the setting. It's strictly a swashbuckler with a bit of hesitant eroticism and a dash of sci-fi. The story is driven by the gathering of plot coupons and I thought the action was unconvincing and full of abrupt deus-ex-machina rescues.

David Hero and Eldin Dingle are two modern Scots who are plunged into the land of dream with nothing more than a pair of swords and loincloths between them. They run afoul of an evil wizard, some alien beings, and a gorgeous monster. A beautiful girl is tossed in to the mix - she's a bit proactive but no Xena.
