If you have a ticket for the Olympic badminton competitions, you will also have the chance to watch the shuttlecock(毽子) performance, regarded as the origin of badminton.
And if you are going to watch fencing(剑术), you may even be lucky enough to witness swordplay(舞剑) from Chinese martial arts(武术) practitioners.
The city of Beijing will be bombarded with hundreds of cultural activities during the Olympic Games.
These activities include exhibitions, stage shows, and street performances. For the first time in Olympic history, cultural performances will be present for almost every competition.
CRI's Liao Jibo reports.
Zhao Dongming, an official with the Beijing Olympics organizing committee, who is in charge of cultural activities during the games, told reporters Monday that more than 30 groups will be giving a variety of perfmancesbefore or during almost every competition.
Such performances were, in the past, usually held for basketball or beach volleyball courts.
More cultural activities, however, will be taking place outside of the venues, at theaters, exhibition centers and parks.
Zhao said the shows will be a combination of Olympic spirit and culture, and will blend Chinese traditions with international customs.
They will also be a stage for exchange and understanding between Chinese and foreign guests.
"Many foreign tourists will come to Beijing to participate and learn about the Olympic Games, as well as Chinese culture and folklore. When designing the activities, many performance troupes and companies tried to create something which would expose Chinese culture to tourists."
20 thousand artists from around the world will be performing in the city, with most shows free to visitors.
As people get increasingly enthusiastic about the cultural activities, he remarks that security is still the number one concern.
But they are working to ensure that security measures will not have any affect on the activities.
"The purpose of these cultural activities is to provide happiness. We will try to make our security measures more practical, but they are necessary."
He also advised citizens not to bring too much luggage when going out for cultural activities.
He asked the public to work together so that guests from around the world can enjoy warm, joyful and safe cultural experiences.
