New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is encouraging New Yorkers to go about their business as usual, a day after an explosion injured 29 people in the busy Manhattan neighborhood of Chelsea. 1000 additional law enforcement officers are being deployed throughout the city. Federal investigators are examining evidence from the explosion.
An Islamic-State-run news agency claims the man who stabbed and wounded 8 people at a mall in Minnesota before shot dead by an off-duty police officer was a soldier of the Islamic State. All 8 victims from the attack were treated in a hospital for non-life-threatening wounds, all but one were later released.
Suspected rebels using guns and grenades sneaked into a crucial army base in Indian-controled Kashmir early on Sunday, killing at least 17 soldiers. Army officials say it was the deadliest attack on a military base for the region in recent years.
Thousands of Serbian riot police cordoned off central Belgrade for a gay pride march which was held amid fears of attacks from extremists. Holding banners and flags, several hundred people marched in the downtown area as helicopters flew above.
