Mexico’s Colima volcano increased its activity on Friday, forcing the evacuation of several nearby communities. Dramatic time-lapse video captured part of the eruption. Authorities say the activity poses a threat to surrounding population.
Video of a one-month-old baby girl set to have been pulled alive from rubble of a collapsed building in Idlib, Syria was released Friday. A member of the White Helmets Syrian rescue team is seen weeping as he holds the baby in his arms, and a paramedic tries to treat her. The paramedic said the building was hit by an air strike carried out by Syrian government forces.
French police fired tear gas and water cannons on protesters defending migrants in northern France. The government is preparing to shut down the city’s notorious migrant camp in the city of Calais.
The 45th Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta kicked off in New Mexico. It is expected to attract close to a million visitors. The festival features more than 500 hot air balloons with pilots from around the world.
